Mike Martin graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1974 and from WVU in 1981 with a BS degree in physical therapy. He founded what is now Bridgeport Physical Therapy in 1984 and has been in private practice since. Mike's involvement in Bridgeport High School started in 1988 when he was asked to help with the football team. He has been on the sidelines for over 25 years assessing player injuries and providing treatment to hundreds of BHS football players.
Mike has also been very active in youth sports programs in Bridgeport. He served on the Little League Board from 1994 to 2006 and coached the 1996 All-Star team to a state runner-up finish and the 2004 team to the state title. He has also coached flag football and Jerry West basketball.
In 2003, Mike and his wife Kim started the Bridgeport Little League Challenger Division for special needs children. The program has grown to include nearly 100 kids. Hundreds of BHS students have participated in Challenger League, either as players or buddies. The system has resulted in friendships being formed between the buddies and players which have carried over to school and social activities.
Mike and Kim have four children, Michael, Matthew, Molly and Patrick, all BHS graduates.
