The girls will entertain basketball fans attending the Cleveland Cavaliers v. Boston Celtics game.
“They were completely thrilled when we told them,” said Danceline Coach Jennifer Dodrill. “There was pure excitement about the fact that they would be performing at a professional game in front of so many people.”
The opportunity came along when a recent danceline performance was observed by a colleague of Chris Cunanan, who holds the position of game presentation manager for the Cavaliers. (See story HERE.)
“I was given the information asked to call the Cavaliers. I was told that our girls would be perfect for a halftime or pregame show,” she said.
As it turns out, it will be a pregame performance.

“We really think that’s going to be better because a lot of people get up at halftime for drinks and food,” Dodrill said.
The danceline is being joined by the cheerleaders to perform a three-and-a-half minute routine highlighting the teams’ individual talents and some combined dance moves.
“We’re performing part of our competition routines and combining our music,” Dodrill said. “The fun thing about it is the cheerleaders will be stunting behind the danceline. There’s one section when the cheerleaders tumble and another section when our varsity dance team dances by themselves.”
The rapport between the teams is very good and Dodrill is excited to see how it all plays out before an audience. Members of each team will wear their respective competition routines with all girls dressed in their best red, white and blue to represent the Braves of Bridgeport Middle School.
The combined squads will give the Bridgeport community a sampling of their Cleveland-bound routine at Tuesday’s BMS basketball game half-time.
“It will be rough. We’ll still be a week out from the Cavaliers game and will have some time to do some polishing,” Dodrill said.

“It’s wonderful that the girls are getting recognized for their abilities and able to get out there and represent their school,” Doddrill said.
