Local Chocolatier Makes Holidays Even Sweeter

By Trina Runner on December 07, 2014

Like a mini-version of Willie Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, Angie Schepis is hard at work filling order of her custom-made chocolates for the holiday season.  Although she doesn’t don the famous purple suit and top hat, she does have the same dedication to the art of chocolate making and the same mission of making people happy with a little help from the cocoa bean.

What started as a hobby for the Bridgeport resident evolved into a business last summer, and with the holidays approaching, shows no signs of slowing down.  Schepis’ unique flair for all things chocolate allow her to create one-of-a-kind confections designed to mark all of life’s special occasions.  Next to Halloween and Valentine’s Day, more chocolate is sold at Christmas than any other time of year.  Schepis and her  “elves” are hard at work keeping the candy on the shelves at Chic Nail and Best Care Pharmacy in Bridgeport and they are also taking custom orders.  “It takes about two days for most orders and prices start at just one dollar,” said Schepis.  She also makes chocolate bouquets that are displayed in vases, jars and baskets.

“Currently I have 210 different molds, including Bridgeport Indians, WVU, and holiday options,” said Schepis.  “Our flavors include vanilla, chocolate, white mint, dark chocolate, dark mint, butterscotch, chocolate cream, and peanut butter.  We also offer “Angies Candies” which are milk chocolate and white mint, similar to Andes Candies.”  Colors options are black, red, pink, dark green, light green, dark blue, yellow, orchid and orange.  “In an effort to provide a wide variety for the holidays, we now have chocolate suckers with the following holiday shapes:  poinsettia, angel, snowman, gingerbread house, Santa, reindeer, stockings, Christmas bulbs, and Christmas carolers.  In chocolate pieces, we have candy canes, snowmen, stars, Christmas trees and ornaments.  They would make the perfect gift or stocking stuffer,” added Schepis.
