BHS Alumni Band Gearing Up for Homecoming Festivities

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on September 22, 2019

Once again, the Bridgeport High School Alumni Band will be part of Homecoming festivities.

For the Wed., Oct. 9 parade: The Alumni Band will meet in the Church of Christ parking lot on Philadelphia Avenue by 5 p.m. Chicken strips and iced tea will be available for alumni band members, starting at around 4:15 p.m. The alumni band will play the BHS Fight Song during the parade. Mike Hess has sheet music for those who need it. Alumni Band T-shirts will also be available for purchase for $15 each. For both the parade and game, Band members will wear the red alumni shirts with black pants or jeans. In lieu of an alumni shirt, band members can also wear their own red shirts.

For the Friday, Oct. 11 football game against Preston County, alumni band members need to arrive at the BHS band room between 5-5:45 p.m. After marching over to the field, the group will play the Alma Mater (tune to "Danny Boy"), slightly different than last year's arrangement. Hess has sheet music for that, as well.

Email whess@aol.com for music for either tune.

Hess said there will be a full percussion section this year. Any instrument player, drummer, majorette or color guard who would like to be part of this year's Homecoming festivities are asked to contact Hess.

"I always hear lots of positive comments about how people love to hear the alumni band," he said. "See you there - and Go Indians!"
