On Tuesday, April 30, Meadowbrook Mall's business roster, which is almost at capacity, welcomed a new national retailer as Tradehome Shoes began its operations.
The store is located in the mall’s center court area. It encompasses 2,000 square feet in the site currently home to Cardinal Market. That business moved to a new 2,300 square foot facility near Marshall’s.
Tradehome Shoes features styles for the whole family, with popular brands like Adidas, Asics, Birkenstock, Cole Haan, Crocs, Florsheim, Hey Dude, New Balance, Nike, Oofos, Ugg and many more.
With the opening of the new store, very few storefronts remain vacant. The biggest opening is the former Elder-Beerman Home Store, which recently housed materials for Boscov's. However, the space is available.
The mall also still has the former Garfield's Restaurant space available. Mall officials, including those with Cafaro Company that owns the facility, have made it clear they would like to see a sitdown restaurant available in that location.
While that eatery space is open, there is also space available for at least one, and perhaps more, inside the mall's food court area. The former Subway location is available there, while space that once housed Long John Silver's many years ago, could also be made available for a business.
The Meadowbrook Mall opened in the early 1980s and has bucked the national trend of many malls faltering. The recent arrival of retail giant Boscov's has likely helped solidify the Bridgeport retail hub for the immediate future.
