Sweat & Smiles: Realizing You Already Possess All the Calmness, Clarity and Patience You Need

By Melissa Robbins on May 13, 2017 from Sweat & Smiles

Ugggh.

You wake up and that's your first thought. Or it may be your second thought because you've already hit snooze once. Even worse, you have one of those days that you turned OFF the alarm clock and don't even remember doing it.

Uggh.

The day is shot already. How can you get out of this? Can you call in sick, make up an excuse to be late, admit you just want a "mental health" day?

You've been awake for all of one minute and already: you didn't get enough sleep, you don't have enough time and then on and on ... You don't have enough of anything. Not enough time, not enough help, not enough money (ever), you're not enough, you don't have enough, you're not being enough. The day is shot, you'll try harder tomorrow. Or is it? Do you actually have to try harder?

The answer is no. No, nope, absolutely not. This belief that we just have to work harder doesn't even make sense anymore. Doing more isn't the answer. We're doing stuff all day long and we're just not getting where we want to be. The harder you work the further down this rabbit hole you're going to go. The more you push, the further you'll get from your goals.

Not losing enough weight? You push harder in your workouts ... you eat even less. And then, you gain another pound. Don't have enough time? You try to get up earlier and stay up later. And then, you're exhausted and even the stuff you WERE getting done, isn't getting done (and you're like a zombie).

Don't have enough money? You start relentlessly searching for ways to get more money, it's all you think about. And then, money starts leaving your bank account even faster, costly things start springing up out of nowhere. Your kids aren't behaving, so you start really laying down the law, they scream ... you scream right back. You scream, I scream, we all scream ... for headaches?

It's just not working.

You don't have to try harder. Let me be very clear about something: YOU ARE ENOUGH. You have within you right now all of the calmness, clarity, and patience you'll ever need to have, be, and do exactly what you want.

I repeat: you don't have to try harder. You just have to try something different.

Remember the blog about being honest, open and willing? Read it here. Being honest, open, and willing to reevaluate is the first step on the right path. When something isn't working for you, don't assume you just need to work harder, you just need to find a way that works for you!

Don't run to your friends and ask what's working for them. Don't listen to someone trying to sell you the magic solution to all of your problems. Get clear about what you want your life to look like. Who you want to be, how you want to feel, the kind of person you are and the kinds of things you like. Getting clear about where you want to go is the only way to find out how to get there. If what you are currently doing is not getting you there, don't work harder, try something different. Don't stop trying different things until you find the things that work for you!

You just have to try something different.

Are you ready to try something different?

Sweat & Smiles,

Melissa
