GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA) is currently seeking a highly motivated Environmental Scientist to support our environmental site investigation and remediation practice in our Bridgeport, West Virginia office. The successful candidate will have a solid educational background, and must be self-motivated with a professional attitude. As an Environmental Scientist, you will work in a fast-paced team of Project Managers and Principals. You will perform extensive fieldwork and gain experience on a variety of projects across industry sectors with an emphasis on Oil & Gas, Chemical, Manufacturing and Remediation sectors. Key Duties:
• Conduct field work, sample collection (soil, sediment, ground water, and surface water) and other forms of field data collection and mapping.
• Perform Environmental Site Assessments – Phase I & II
• Assist in data interpretation and preparation of site work plans, spreadsheets, figures, technical reports, and permits.
• Assist with aboveground storage tank services.
• Focus on team project delivery, taking direction primarily from Project Managers.
• Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments.
• Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
• Communicate with subcontractors, regulatory agents, and clients during field activities.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology (Master’s Degree a plus).
• 2-4 years of related environmental experience in the fields of site investigation, implementation of remedial alternatives, and/or design of remedial systems.
• Experience in preparing field documentation, project specifications and reports is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities.
• Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols.
• Ability to obtain an Aboveground Storage Tank Inspectors Certification within 6 months is a plus.
• Ability to follow direction, and work independently or in a team setting.
• Strong communication skills, problem solving and organizational skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
• Availability to work Monday through Friday, as well as some evenings and weekends in local and regional locations. Overnight travel is possible.
• A valid driver’s license in good standing and a reliable vehicle.
