Gardening: Back to Square One at the Bridgeport Public Library
The Bridgeport Public Library is hosting Larry Campbell for a gardening information session on June 11th at 6:30pm. Mr. Campbell is a Master Gardener and faculty member of the WVU – Harrison County Extension Office and is pleased to share his gardening knowledge with fellow backyard enthusiasts. Campbell will be discussing various techniques including the use of wide rows, raised beds, containers, and square foot gardening. The event is open to the public and admission is free.
Campbell says “As humans we are hardwired to be attracted to nature. The beauty of nature provides us relief from everyday stress. Gardening is just an extension of our inherent affinity for nature. It is also an important activity for connecting us with our food supply and for helping us to appreciate healthy foods. I also appreciate what Cicero once said, "Anyone who has a library and a garden wants for nothing."”
Campbell has been a member of the WVU Extension faculty since 1991. In 2002, Larry transferred to the WVU-Harrison County Extension Office. He presently serves as the Extension agent responsible agricultural programming in the county. He is also the County Program Coordinator for the local Extension Office. Larry is an associate professor with the WVUES.
