‘TIS (ALMOST) THE SEASON; LANDAU KICKS OFF HOLIDAY TOUR AT STONEWALL RESORT FRIDAY NOVEMBER 1ST
NEW CHRISTMAS CD, BOOK ALSO DUE NEXT MONTH; LANDAU SIGNING COPIES AT STONEWALL SATURDAY NOVEMBER 2ND
Weston, WV - Landau Eugene Murphy Jr., the 2011 winner of NBC TV’s America’s Got Talent, is rolling out the next big phase of his career by giving people exactly what they’ve asked for. “Everywhere I’ve gone, all over the world, people kept telling me they wanted me to do a Christmas album, and they want to hear my life story about how I went from washing cars to winning AGT; so I’m giving them both!” said Murphy from the new and modern but modest home he shares with his wife Jennifer and their family in southern West Virginia.
Keeping West Virginians and their support close to his heart, Landau will kick off his holiday tour on Friday November 1st with a special performance at Stonewall Resort, just off I-79 near Clarksburg. Tickets are available by calling (304) 391-5000 or online here (https://wvga.wufoo.com/forms/centennial-concert/). The performance helps celebrate the 100th anniversary of the West Virginia Golf Association.
When not swinging his golf club, WVGA Executive Director Ken Tackett is swinging his drumsticks with Landau’s band as his drummer and is excited about the show. “Stonewall is a beautiful resort, and they’ve been gracious to offer a special low room rate for folks who want to stay for the evening after the show,” says Tackett. Reservations are available by calling Stonewall Resort at (304) 269-7400 or by visiting them online (http://www.stonewallresort.com/wv_deals/LEMJRRoomRate).
Landau and the band are expected to preview a few songs from his Christmas Made For Two CD during the Friday night concert, as well as sprinkle in some Motown and R&B along with his signature blend of Great American Songbook classics from The Rat Pack. The following day, Saturday November 2nd, Landau will be signing copies of the CD and book and meeting with fans at a free event from 11am-1pm at Stonewall Resort, for those who can’t attend the Friday night show.
A portion of sales from Landau’s Christmas Made For Two CD will benefit The Children’s Home Society of West Virginia, which Landau supported for many years before his rise to national prominence on America’s Got Talent. The CD features many musicians from the Mountain State and was recorded in Huntington, WV. It will be available statewide at Little General Stores and many other retail outlets, as well as online through Amazon and at www.landaumurphyjr.com.
Landau’s book, “Landau – From Washing Cars to Hollywood Stars,” is slated for a November release as well, and chronicles Landau’s life from being a troubled teen to a homeless young adult in Detroit, a car washer in West Virginia and finally his meteoric rise to the top on America’s Got Talent. It contains many stories being revealed for the first time, backstage tour diaries and several pages of behind-the-scenes photos that have never before been published.
Landau’s Christmas tour will also include stops in Los Angeles where he’s already at work on his next CD; Shanghai, China with fellow America’s Got Talent winner Michael Grimm, and in Kentucky and West Virginia, where Landau’s says he’s always happiest when close to home. Landau adds, “I love to get back to these mountains, and can’t wait to see all my West Virginia people this Christmas!”
