Richard Duez Presents Photography of North Central West Virginia in the Struggle for Statehood
Richard Duez will again be at the Bridgeport Public Library to present more of his collection of historic photography. On June 12th at 6:30pm, Duez will offer an explanation of North Central West Virginia’s participation in the debate surrounding West Virginia’s statehood. The event is open to the public and admission is free.
This photography presentation is only the first of two as Duez will again be at the Bridgeport Public Library on June 18th to present a slide show tour of the surrounding area’s participation in the American Civil War. The library invites all to join in celebration of West Virginia’s 150th birthday!
Duez hopes to one day publish a portion of his collection in a bound edition available for public purchase. If achieved, the people of the area could hold their own history and documentation of days gone by. Until Duez’s collection of historic photos is readily available on every coffee table in town, all are invited to attend his presentations at the Bridgeport Public Library.
Duez’s collection of photography spans more than just historic Bridgeport. He has over 20,000 images of the area including modern sports events and the surrounding county. He has made numerous photographic donations to West Virginia University Libraries that have considerably expanded the institution’s coverage of Harrison County.
