Born in Marion County, Lenna Lowe Yost was an integral figure in the temperance and woman suffrage movement in West Virginia and spent the majority of her life as an activist for the betterment of women and children's lives.

Our guest speaker, Dr. Karina Esposito, is an Adjunct History Instructor at WVU, and West Virginia Wesleyan. Dr. Esposito wrote her master's thesis on Lenna Lowe Yost, and her role in the Prohibition Movement and the Woman’s Suffrage Movement in West Virginia. She received her doctorate from WVU in 2015, and her Ph.D. dissertation was on U.S.- Brazilian Naval Relations.
