By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on October 29, 2025
Recently, the City of Bridgeport announced that its 2025 summer asphalt paving program has been completed with no future delays as a
result on various city streets.
There were several roadways that received attention during the most recent paving cycle. Those areas included a portion of Sherwood Road, Sherwood Circle, Gateway Drive, Philadelphia Avenue from Virginia Avenue intersection to Worthington Avenue intersection, Olive Street and Willis Avenue Intersection, First Street alley, lower Fourth Street, Geneva Street, and Newton Avenue.
The project saw the contractor handle 10,840 yards of milling and paving. The total amount of asphalt that took place with the project is 894 tons.
Asphalt Contractors & Site Work, Inc. of Lavalette, WV was the qualified low bidder for the project and was responsible for the project.
The city also expressed its appreciation for the patience of residents and others driving through the city's streets that were impacted during the annual project. Along with road closures and delays, residents on the streets impacted were required to have all vehicles off the roadways the day or days of the paving that took place.
