Bridgeport High School Alum Adds Another Restaurant to Business Portfolio with Nutter Fort Establishment

By Jeff Toquinto on April 07, 2026

Bridgeport High School graduate Jeffrey Chalfant is continuing work to expand his business portfolio. And his latest expansion effort is in Nutter Fort.

In late February, Chalfant opened another East of Chicago Pizza. This one is located at 1524 Buckhannon Pike. Although it still has a Clarksburg zip code, it is situated near Bonnie Belle’s Pastries at the site of a former car wash.

“We actually kept the structure of the former car wash and built around it,” said Chalfant. “The building was raised to keep it out of the flood zone, and we did a lot of other projects to turn it into what you see now.”

What you see now is the third current East of Chicago business owned by Chalfant with his original location still in operation in Shinnston, as well as his location on Main Street in Bridgeport. The location he operated in Salem has closed.

What you will also see is a building of a little more than 2,000 square feet. The East of Chicago side of the building covers roughly 1,200 of the square footage.

“We’re thrilled to be in Nutter Fort,” said Chalfant, who said the exact opening date was Feb. 26. “We’ve been very business, and the business has been good.”

More important that Chalfant being excited is that he said most of the locals that have taken in the new business seem excited as well.

“For the most part, everyone in the community has been excited. There are always a few saying you don’t need another pizza place, but we’ve not only seen a lot of customers, but we’ve also seen a lot of repeat customers,” Chalfant said. “We have one customer who comes in for lunch and dinner every day. If you want a successful business you need that core, repeat customer.”

Individuals can dine in at the new restaurant as it has seating for 16. Carryout is available, as are options through delivery such as Door Dash.

“We have just about every way to get you food,” said Chalfant.

If you get the food, you have plenty of choices. East of Chicago offers a variety of pizza styles—including Pan, Thin, and Loaded Crust—along with oven-baked subs, wings, and more.

The hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. The hours are 11 a.m. to 10 pm. Friday and Saturday. Six employees are running operations at the new business.

To order, or ask questions, call 304-782-2400, which is the former phone number at the Salem location.

Chalfant owns more than just the three East of Chicago locations. He owns Gibby’s Ice Cream and Grill in Shinnston, as well as two storage unit businesses.

As for the remaining space in the building. Chalfant said his wife Nadalee will be opening Ember Coffee Co. in the future. No formal timeline has been set. Check back to Connect-Bridgeport in the future for more on that when it opens.
