Nominations Open for 2026 BHS Alumni & Friends Foundation Hall of Fame

By Julie Perine on January 14, 2026

Nominations are open for the 2026 Bridgeport High School Alumni & Friends Foundation Hall of Fame.
The Hall of Fame is open to BHS graduates and non-BHS graduates. Alumnae must have benefited society or the community in which they live, excelled in their chosen field, or directly contributed to BHS through time or talent. Those not graduating from BHS must have directly benefited BHS through time or talent.

Being inducted into the Bridgeport Hall of Fame is indeed a prestigious honor, said Alumni & Friends Foundation President Teresa Lunsford.

“We want to honor the individual's outstanding achievements or contributions to the Bridgeport community as well as their own community,” she said. Their hard work and dedication makes the world a better place not only in the present, but for future generations.”

To be considered for the honor, the BHS Alumni board takes nominations from Bridgeport or anywhere in the world.

“The board then meets and selects typically four individuals for that year. Should a nominee not be inducted into the Hall of Fame, they will continue to be eligible for consideration in subsequent years,” Lunsford said.

As is tradition, the new hall of fame members will be honored at the annual Hall of Fame Banquet this coming fall, as well as a BHS football game the night before.

Board members are Lunsford, Vice President Jenny Starkey-Reed, Secretary Jenna Robey, Treasurer Jesse Isner, BHS Principal Renee Matthews, J.D. Lister, Julie Bumgardner, Julie Perine, Patrick Snell, Christa Randolph and Alice Rowe.

Hall of Fame inductees for 2025 were (pictured left) Richard Duez, Chuck Steele, Mickey Gerba and Roger Alan Nichols

The BHS Alumni & Friends Foundation Inc. is a nonprofit organization that offers financial assistance to students interested in furthering their education. The organization raises funds to offer scholarship opportunities for each graduating class.

A nomination form can be accessed HERE. Nominations will be accepted through March 31, 2026.

Please return to bhs1alumni@gmail.com or BHS Alumni & Friends Foundation, P.O. Box 201, Bridgeport WV 26330.
