The Grapevine: From a Day at UHC to Seeing a New Business Locally, and More, a Look at a Busy Week
By Rosalyn Queen on June 04, 2026
So many great things happened last week that I just do not know what to report on, but I have chosen two events and hope you enjoying reading about them as much as I enjoyed attending them.
On Friday, May 29, I attended the opening of the new seventh floor unit at the United Hospital Center. This is a new unit that will house about 20 to 25 patients. It is a state of the art unit and patients will receive state of the art care. It is one of the first units of this type to be opened in this part of the state.
Dr. David Hess, director of the hospital welcomed the guests and gave us an overview of the unit and its plans. Other speakers included doctors and the marketing manager.
I had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Hess and was able to report to him the wonderful care Fray Queen received from the doctors and staff during his 30-plus-day stay there. They were also extremely helpful to the family. I also shared wonderful news with Dr. Mark Povroznik and John Fernandez. We are lucky to have this unit in our area.
Friday afternoon I returned home to East View and participated in the ribbon cutting of the new veterinarian hospital located on Philippi Pike. It is a wonderful facility and employs more than 12 people. Not only do they offer veterinarian services, but they also offer boarding and grooming. I am so proud to have this business in our area. I urge you to use this business for your pet and best of all there is plenty of parking.
Kathy Wagner and Marlee Feree from the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce oversaw the arrangements and Mike Queen spoke on behalf of the Secretary of States office. A big welcome to my East View home.
Saturday morning, I found myself at the Clarksburg Farmers Market and it is bigger and better than ever. Leah from Sudsberry has done a wonderful job in planning the market. There are always events for the kids and this week we had wonderful music. Produce will be here soon. Be sure to visit soon. The market is in the parking lot of Tractor Supply Co. on Emily Drive.
I am really working on the Women of Distinction luncheon that will be held on Friday, June 26 at noon at the Uptown Event Center in Clarksburg. This will be the Progressive Women's Association’s contribution to celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States. We are planning a great program, and the meal will certainly be a pleaser.
Get your reservations early as there will be limited seating. For reservations call 304-624-6441.
