Bridgeport Police Remove Pair of Geocaches Located in City Limits Due to Concerns for Public Safety

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on January 06, 2026

FROM THE BRIDGEPORT POLICE DEPARTMENT

On January 6, 2026, the City of Bridgeport removed two Geocaches located within city limits. While we strongly support outdoor recreation and appreciate the spirit of Geocaching, these particular caches were placed approximately 40 feet above the ground, posing a significant safety risk to participants.

To ensure the well-being of the Geocaching community, the City has partnered with Geocaching.com to have these caches removed from their database.

We kindly ask all Geocache creators to keep safety in mind when placing new caches. Geocaching.com provides important placement guidelines that can be found here: Geocache Hiding Guidelines.

Thank you for helping us keep Bridgeport safe and enjoyable for everyone.
