Homes Registered for Annual Citywide Yard Sale Hits Triple Digits as Bridgeport Releases Participant List

By Jeff Toquinto on July 29, 2025

The registered list of those participating in the City of Bridgeport’s annual Citywide Yard Sale has been released.

A total of 120 households has registered for the annual event that brings thousands to the city. This year’s citywide yard sale will be held this Saturday, August 2. It will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

However, as Bridgeport Public Information Officer Andrea Kerr pointed out, the hours (and the date) are those recognized by the city. Individuals often begin their sales prior and extend them longer than the eight-hour window. Also, some individuals hold their sale starting on Friday.

While the city’s list is put together to help those planning on going to sales to navigate the city, Kerr also noted that dozens of residences annually are not listed. So, the number of homes participating this year may be closer to the 150 range.

"The registered numbers are a little higher than usual. Typically, we have not seen that many registrants off the bat,” said Kerr. “We have plenty that do not register, and that’s fine too. I don’t know if we ever had this many register officially.”

While Kerr knows this is a big hit for yard sale enthusiasts and also for locals who love to hold a yard sale, she is also aware many do not enjoy this day. A big reason is the massive amount of traffic that floods city streets, often causing traffic delays and backups. Kerr works with the Bridgeport Police Department to try and alleviate as many issues as possible.

“We just really want to stress to everyone to be courteous and be aware of their surroundings. There are a lot of people that want to participate, but there are also a lot not wanting to participate and should have a free and clear path to travel,” said Kerr previously about this year’s event. “We’re asking people not to block driveways, yards, or park on both sides of the street. We’re aware a lot of people love this event, but there are those who do not.”

The list released also includes a list of Bridgeport area restaurants. Many visiting the city spend hours here and will take a break for a bite to eat.

The list can also be picked up at the Bridgeport Municipal Complex, The Bridge, the Bridgeport Public Library, and the Benedum Civic Center.
