Reminder: BHS After Prom Committee Fundraiser in "Golden Potty" Form Back to Help Fund Celebration

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on April 02, 2026

Bridgeport High School’s After Prom Committee is bringing back a creative and lighthearted fundraiser to support this year’s alcohol- and drug-free post-prom celebration. Community members are invited to donate $100 to help keep the famous “Golden Potty” out of their yard — all while supporting a safe and memorable night for students. Information regarding the Golden Potty — including how to pay to have it placed in someone else’s yard — is coming soon.

Supporters can scan the QR code to make their Golden Potty $100 Insurance donation now.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly to BHS After Prom activities, part of the school’s longstanding Prom Promise program. The initiative was created to offer students a safe alternative to traditional post-prom parties while raising awareness about the dangers of drug- and alcohol-related crashes involving teens. The program aims to reduce fatalities caused by underage drinking and impaired driving, particularly during prom season.

This year’s Junior–Senior Prom will be held May 2 at the Bridgeport Conference Center. Immediately following the dance, students are invited to attend the fully chaperoned After-Prom event beginning at midnight on May 3 at Buffalo Wild Wings. The event is designed to provide a safe, supervised, and entertaining environment for students to continue celebrating.

Organizers say community support is essential to making the event a success. Hundreds of students typically attend the After-Prom event, and participation continues to grow each year. Students look forward to the opportunity to continue their evening in a safe and memorable way — made possible only through the generosity of supporters.

For those who have contributed in the past, organizers extend their sincere thanks for helping make this important event possible.

Checks can be made payable to Bridgeport High School with “BHS AFTER PROM” in the memo line and mailed to 515 Johnson Avenue, Bridgeport, WV 26330. Businesses interested in contributing prizes or funds may contact Andrea Kerr at andreakerr07@gmail.com. All donations are tax deductible.

Community members who wish to support Bridgeport High School students — and keep the Golden Potty at bay — are encouraged to participate in the fundraiser and help ensure a safe and enjoyable prom season for all.

The After Prom Committee, along with the Junior Class Officers and Executive Board Members, will be collecting donations over the next several months.
