Bridgeport High School Class of 2026 Holds Graduation Ceremonies

By Michael Minnich on May 24, 2026

New adventures await the Bridgeport High School Class of 2026, which graduated in ceremonies on Saturday night.

The night began with a welcome from Senior Class President Presley Veltri.

Student body president Victoria Singzon then led the attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the signing of the Star Spangled Banner by senior choir members.

Singzon then addressed her classmates and well-wishers as Miss BHS.

"I want to thank the Bridgeport community, because that's what makes Bridgeport special," Singzon said. "It makes us stand out in the state. We have this very strong community of teachers and faculty, but also the wider community, the parents and alums who support us."

She was the student body president as well as class president for the last two years. She is vice president of the Girl Up Club and involved in Key Club, Spanish Club and French Club.

"When I was in middle school, I definitely would not believe that I would be in the position I am today," Singzon said. "It's just a great thing to see how much we've grown over time and the new people we've met."

Molly Pillow and Ashley McBrayer then performed "Slipping Through My Fingers" by ABBA.

Mr. BHS, William Northey, was the next speaker.

"It's taken a lot to be here today," Northey said. "We all deserve to have a seat at graduation."

"It feels great to have something worth leaning into," Northey said. "We've got really great teachers and staff here and just having the support group and knowing that I can put myself out there feels really great."

He was in National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and a member of the cross country and track teams as well as academic teams and Model United Nations.

Singzon and Northey were chosen as Miss and Mr. BHS by the BHS faculty.

"They look at our GPA, our leadership, our community service, our character and how we interact with our peers," Singzon said.

"This is something wasn't just the highest GPA, the teachers actually had to think about who they would prefer to hear from," Northey said. "That feels really good.'

"You're surrounded by all of these teachers for the last four years. Just being picked by them is such an honor," Singzon said.

Paiton Thompson and Breanna Starkey then performed "Landslide" by Fleetwood Mac.

Assistant principal and athletic director Tom Sears then presented the class.

Assistant principal Kenneth Edwards announced the graduates, with principal Renee Mathews presenting the diplomas.

Sears then led the turning of the tassels, signifying the class had graduated.

The alma mater was then performed by the new graduates.

Senior class vice president James Hadjis gave the farewell address.
