Despite Rapid Response from City's Fire Department, Benedum Drive Blaze at Business Sees Car Leveled

An afternoon call for a vehicle fire turned on Benedum Drive Friday afternoon saw the Bridgeport Fire Department respond on the scene to a vehicle engulfed in flames.
According to Chief Greg Pigg, staff arrived at a place where there were plenty of vehicles present. The site of the fire was at the Mountain 
State Auto Auction, which was listed by the Harrison County 911 as being in Shinnston. However, that area long Benedum Drive is part of the Bridgeport Fire Department’s first due area.

“When our personnel got on the scene, the vehicle was fully involved,” said Pigg. “They were able to knock it down fairly quickly.”
Despite it being at the Auto Auction location, Pigg said it was just the one vehicle suffering damage and no other vehicles at the facility were impacted. Pigg also said there were no injuries because of the fire.
Pigg said the car was destroyed. He said the reason for the blaze was unknown.
