First Responders Address Tree Across Area Railroad Tracks, as Well as Damage to Pair of Utility Poles

Late Saturday evening, May 30, and into Sunday morning, May 31, first responders dealt with a situation involving a tree down across railroad tracks along with damaged utility poles in the area.
The call came in around 11 p.m. for the Valley Volunteer Fire department. Initially, the report was for “power lines arching down” in the area behind the Fairmont Municipal Airport, just off Airport Road.
Although nothing was found, further analysis along Pump Station Road did find the issues. Fire staff discovered a large tree across the railroad tracks, blocking the tracks, along with one utility pole broke and another pole compromised.
The area was secured for a period approaching two hours. At that time Mon Power and crews arrived to manage the situation.
