High Speed Chase Between Harrison, Lewis Counties Sees Four Men Arrested after Stop in Stonewood

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on June 10, 2025

UPDATE FROM WDTV: More details have been released after a motorcycle pursuit in Lewis and Harrison counties early Sunday morning.

At approximately 1 a.m., deputies responded to shots fired after an altercation at the Jane Lew Junction, according to the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office.

The caller said she was “jumped by a couple Pagans” and that they were now on street bikes following her and shooting at her vehicle, court documents say.

Deputies got behind the four motorcycles off the Stonewood exit, where they turned onto Buckhannon Pike. All four drivers were wearing Pagan vests matching the description given by the caller, deputies said.

At the intersection of Suds Run Road and Buckhannon Pike, deputies attempted to stop the motorcycles, but they continued at high rates of speed and ignored overhead lights and sirens.

One of the men — Chance Poland — was seen grabbing a handgun from his saddle compartment and throwing it into the river, court documents say.

All four men — Richard Cox, Chance Poland, Stephen Watson and Nicholas Fetty — were arrested and charged with fleeing.

There is no word on if the four men will face charges in Lewis County in relation to the alleged shooting at this time.

ORIGINAL: According to WDTV, three men were arrested early Sunday morning after a police pursuit that began in Lewis County and ended in Harrison County.

Harrison County Sheriff Robert Matheny II said his office was made aware of an incident that occurred in the Jane Lew area, and their units attempted to stop the suspect vehicles once they entered Harrison County. However, the drivers continued to run from authorities.

The suspects – Nicholas Fetty, Stephen Watson and Chance Poland – were later stopped in the Stonewood area and have been arrested and charged with fleeing.

“The investigation is ongoing in Lewis County as to what initiated contact with the suspects,” Matheny said, a statement released to the media.

No further details will be released at this time as the investigation continues, Matheny said.
