It's Happening: Bridgeport Elementary Students are Invited to Help Decorate the Visitors Center Tree

By Julie Perine on November 04, 2025

Halloween festivities are behind us, and autumn is moving into the rearview mirror. As our focus shifts to the Christmas holiday, the Visitors Center is excited to share a decorating opportunity with our Bridgeport elementary school students.

We plan to fill our new space at 103 West Main Street (the former Market on Main and originally Bridgeport Baptist Church) with festive Christmas trees. To highlight things that make our city special, we will be decorating at least one tree in Bridgeport-themed ornaments, and we hope your kids can help us.

Design and create an ornament that reflects something special about Bridgeport. Use your imagination and think about what you like most about our city.

Drop off your ornaments at Bridgeport Visitors Center within the next couple of weeks between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. We will proudly display them and keep them safe throughout the season. You are welcome to pick them up afterwards and we will notify you when they are ready.

Among opportunities to stop by and see the decorated trees will be Light Up Night to be held one month from today, Thurs., Dec. 4. We will also capture the ornaments in photos and share them on our Connect-Bridgeport site.

There are many things about our town that make it special: Our bridges, historic buildings such as the Benedum Civic Center and churches, our beautiful Hinkle and Deegan Lakes, The Bridge Sports Complex, the North Central WV Airport, Veterans Memorial and the Wreaths Across America program, Light Up Night, and annual events like the Bridgeport Christmas Parade, Summer Kickoff, Hotsinpiller 5K, National Night Out, Scarecrow display and trick-or-treat and many others.

But the thing that makes Bridgeport so very special is the unity of our people, enthusiastic participation, and the young people growing up here through our excellent schools and a community of support.

We look forward to seeing what your kids come up with to make our first Christmas in our new Visitors Center one to remember.
