Local Man who Owned and Operated Small Business, John William Heck, Passes Away at the Age of 74

John William Heck, 74, of Fairmont, passed away on Saturday June 7, 2025 at the residence of his girlfriend.  He was born January 18, 1951 in Fairmont, WV a son of the late Irwin E. and Mary E. Decker Heck.  He is survived by his companion of many years, Nancy Whaley of Fairmont.
 
John was a 1968 graduate of East Fairmont High School, as well as a graduate of Fairmont State College.  John was a Catholic by faith.  He spent his career as the owner and operator of Auto Repair Specialties in Fairmont, where “You’re #2 with Us”.  John loved playing the trumpet, drag racing with his car “Purple Haze”, and doing auto body work.  He loved his many cats, and Nancy’s dogs.
 
In addition to his companion Nancy Whaley, John is survived by his sister, Judy and her husband William Pannebaker of Texas, his nephew, Lucas James Martin of C.A., and many first, second, and third cousins.
 
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Marion County Humane Society, PO Box 905, Fairmont, WV  26554.
 
The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV.  Friends and family are invited to visit on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 from 10AM until 1PM.  The funeral will be held in the funeral home at 1PM with Pastor David Lee Marsh officiating.  Interment will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Fairmont, WV.
