Long-Time Harrison County BOE Employee, Leader in Community, First Responder, Worthy Hall, Passes

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on July 31, 2025

The cattle are in the fields and the gates were closed, then a phone call came from Heaven for Worthy Claud Hall, 89, of Lost Creek. A farmer and hardworking man until the very end, he went to his eternal farm in Heaven on Sunday, July 27, 2025.

Worthy was born in Lost Creek on September 4, 1935, a son of the late Clarence Kelso Hall and Harriet Ann Cookman Hall. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Rogers Hall; three children: Allen Scott Hall and wife, Tammy, Stephen Kelso Hall and wife, Cara, and Mary Ann Saunders; six grandchildren: Alex and Lexie Hall, Kelsey, Bailey, and Cameron Hall, and Hunter Saunders; one foster daughter, Kathy Shaffer and husband, Gary; three foster grandchildren: R.J. Coleman, Travis Coleman, and Ashley Bosserdett; one sister, Laura Lightner; and several nieces and nephews.

He was a devoted member of the Lost Creek United Methodist Church. Worthy graduated from Lost Creek High School in 1954 and dedicated his career to the Harrison County Board of Education as a school bus driver. He was known for his reliability and his friendly demeanor, always ensuring his young charges reached school safely. Beyond his official occupation, he was also a passionate farmer, maintaining the very land on which he was born and raised. Among his many interests, Worthy had a particular fondness for steam engines, spending many enjoyable hours with his friend Keith Mason and companions of Locust Heights. His active participation in the community was evident in his involvement with the Lost Creek Lions Club, Lost Creek Senior Citizens, Lost Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Harrison County Farm Bureau, and as a Fire Warden for Harrison County.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Worthy’s honor to Lost Creek Vol. Fire Dept., PO Box 94, Lost Creek, WV, 26385, or Lost Creek Lions Club, PO Box 344, Lost Creek, WV, 26385. Family and friends will gather at Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation located at 144 Hackers Creek Rd. in Jane Lew from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2025. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025, in the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Bill Coffindaffer and Sheri Stilgenbauer officiating. Interment will follow at Seventh Day Baptist Church Cemetery in Lost Creek.

We, at Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service, are honored and privileged to serve the family of Worthy Claud Hall. Online condolences may be expressed at www.PatBoyleFuneralHome.com.
