One Individual Dead as Result of I-79 Vehicle Accident

A two-vehicle accident on Interstate 79 North in the early hours of Monday morning, Nov. 11, near Exit 155 (Star City), tragically resulted in the death of one of the passengers.
According to MECCA 9-1-1, the initial emergency call was received at approximately 6:10 a.m. A 2025 Peterbilt truck collided with 2022 Hyundai.
The first vehicle was carrying five occupants. All five passengers were transported to JW Ruby Memorial Hospital by Monongalia County EMS with injuries. One of the passengers in the struck vehicle was pronounced deceased. The driver of the Peterbilt was not injured.
Monongalia County Sheriff’s Deputies are conducting accident reconstruction and investigative efforts. Star City, and Granville PD assisted. Volunteer Fire Departments from Granville, Star City, Westover and Greene County PA were on scene.
No additional details regarding the cause of the crash will be released at this time, pending the outcome of the investigation.
