Residential Turnout in Early Voting for Tuesday's City of Bridgeport Municipal Election Up Sharply from 2023

By Jeff Toquinto on June 09, 2025

Early voting for the City of Bridgeport’s 2025 municipal election ended late Saturday afternoon and the numbers are up significantly from the 2023 election.

According to Bridgeport City Clerk Lauren Rogers, the city had 301 early voters and followed that up with 815 voters on election day. This year, the number of early voters nearly matched the election day turnout in 2023.
Rogers said there were 730 early voters that cast a ballot in the race that will determine the city’s next mayor. It will also determine who fills three seats on City Council.

Rogers said there were a total of 7,077 registered voters in 2023. That is roughly 15.8 percent. Although registered voters are slightly down (7,074), already 10.3 of the residents have cast a vote.

Polls open for the election Tuesday at 6:30 a.m.  The polls close at 7:30 p.m.

Candidates Robert Matheny and Clayton Rice are seeking the four-year term for mayor. The three Council seats have Joe Earley, Jason Campbell, Jesse Isner, Chris Kinney, Jaclyn Rominger, and John Wilson, Sr. running. Candidates names are listed in the order in which they appear on the ballot.
