Single-Vehicle Accident at White Oaks Sees Individual Extricated from SUV as HealthNet Transport Needed

A weekend accident in Bridgeport resulted in the need for HealthNet and left a vehicle destroyed, Fire Chief Greg Pigg said.
The accident took place at 6:20 p.m. Sunday, May 3, on White Oaks Boulevard. It was in the area near the Harmony Assisted Living facility, 
which is close to the back entrance along Route 131 just off the Saltwell Road exit.

Only one vehicle was involved, said Pigg. The vehicle, which was believed to be a Volkswagen SUV, ran off the road and over the embankment by Harmony.
“One patient was entrapped in the vehicle with injuries. Upon arrival, our staff was able to quickly do the extrication,” said Pigg. “HealthNet was on the scene, and the individual was flown to Ruby Memorial for treatment.”
Pigg said the status of the individual was unknown. He said there was only one individual in the vehicle in question.
Joining the Bridgeport Fire Department, which had apparatus as well as its ambulance on the scene, was the Bridgeport Police Department. The Bridgeport Police Department is overseeing the investigation.
