Veltri Family Dental Moves All Operations to New City Location as Clarksburg Site Closes after 64 Years

By Jeff Toquinto on September 02, 2025

A long-time downtown Clarksburg business shut its doors last week, but thanks to a decision made a couple of years ago it had a place to go.

Veltri Family Dental, which was located on Court Street in Clarksburg, saw its last patients at that site on Thursday, August 21. The dental office opened, it is believed, in 1961 as the office of Dino S. Colombo, DDS. It has had various names over the course of the nearly 65 years.

“We had some unforeseen circumstances come up with the building that became a safety issue for our staff and our patients, which led us to the decision,” said Vince Veltri, a BHS graduate who lives in Morgantown. “It’s not what we wanted to do and the process, knowing the history, has been kind of depressing.”

Veltri said everything was able to transition to the still relatively new satellite office located at 300 West Main Street, near the intersection with Virginia Avenue, helped to consolidate into one site much easier. The new site being laid out to handle future growth also worked to their advantage.

“I consider what happened last year, when we decided to have the Bridgeport satellite office, a way of God looking out for us because soon after we saw some things that made us worry about the longevity we would have (on Court Street),” said Veltri. “Without that office, we would have been in a bind.”

The new site was built to handle growth the Clarksburg office was facing. And Veltri said future growth may also be needed for a satellite to the Bridgeport location.

“If growth calls for it, and we’re staying in growth mode, we would like to find a way back to Clarksburg. We have to weather this transition storm right now and get things fully in order, but if the road of growth calls for it, we definitely would want to be back here,” Veltri said.

The Bridgeport site is still accepting new patients. The phone number is 681-661-6505, and the Clarksburg line has been kept as well and patients can call it at 304-622-8001.

Editor's Note: Vince Veltri, left, is shown with his father Gerard "Jerry" Veltri in front of the office they played a part in occupying for decades.
