West Virginia Beef Expo Slated to be held April 9-11 at West Virginia University's Jackson’s Mill in Weston

The West Virginia Beef Expo has been set for April 9-11 at West Virginia University's Jackson's Mill in Weston.
This year’s Beef Expo promises to be an excellent event for producers, suppliers, consumers, juniors, and others
involved in the beef industry. Several businesses will have their products on display Friday and Saturday and will be willing to discuss their benefits and uses on beef cattle farms. Nearly 150 head of Angus, Charolais, Red Angus, Limousin, Polled Hereford, and Simmental cattle will be on display and offered for sale. Join us at 2 p.m. Friday for the Angus Show, followed by the Limousin Show. The Polled Hereford Show will begin at 3 p.m. and selection of Supreme Champion Bull and Heifer will conclude the day’s shows.
On Saturday, April 11, sales are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with Limousin, followed by Red Angus at 10:30 a.m. and Polled Hereford at 11 a.m. Simmental will have their sale at 12:30 p.m. and Angus at 1 p.m. Charolais will close out the sale schedule at 1:30 p.m. The sales will be broadcast live by SaleRing.live, and you can bid online without having to attend the Beef Expo in person. In addition to the shows and sales, events planned for Friday, April 10 include the Stockman’s Judging Contest, a competition which tests overall knowledge about the beef industry and the Grassland Evaluation Contest. Entries in the Photo Contest will be displayed throughout the event. The Youth Cattle Working Contest is an exciting new addition to Friday afternoon’s schedule at 2:30 p.m. Teams of three youth will work three head of cattle through a handling facility and will be judged on their animal handling skills and their Beef Quality Assurance practices.
The Beef Expo Banquet on Friday night will feature West Virginia Beef Queen contestant speeches and crowning of the 2026 Queen. The West Virginia Cattle Women’s Auction will raise funds to support youth agriculture programs in the state.
The featured entertainment will be Shaun “Mele Nahenahe” Gomban, a native of Waianae, Hawaii, who embodies the rich cultural heritage of the Aloha State through a soulful fusion of traditional Hawaiian melodies and heartfelt country storytelling. With ancestral roots deeply embedded in Hawaii’s vibrant music scene, Shaun has established himself as a respected singer-songwriter, captivating audiences with authentic vocals and heartfelt performances.
Anyone attending the banquet who is 25 or younger will be eligible to enter a drawing for $500. Banquet tickets are $30. Tickets can be purchased by contacting Rod Summers at 304-842-7958. Please make banquet reservations by March 27, 2026.
The West Virginia Beef Expo is a marketing and educational event promoting quality breeding cattle for the advancement of the industry. The Expo is a showcase of cooperative efforts of the West Virginia breed organizations, West Virginia Cattlemen’s Association, West Virginia Cattle Women, West Virginia Department of Agriculture, WVU Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design, and the WVU Extension Service.
