For the past 7 years I bowled at compton lanes and worked there also. I met so many wonderful people and they weren’t just friends. They were my ‘bowling family “ and I am just torn about this place closing. I miss my job and I miss all my customers who I served at the snack bar on a regular basis. So many people asked me why I worked there? I said because I love it. It was hard at times but it was always my pleasure to bring a smile to my customers and serve them good food! We did have good food. I told them my special ingredient was the love I put into making it for them. I knew all of my customers and how they wanted their food cooked......even how crispy they all wanted their fries! I called myself the kitchen slave because Jackee Smith was my boss and she loved to cook and she cooked real good but she was a hurricane going through the kitchen. And I went along behind her and cleaned. But that’s ok. I’d give anything to be there doing it again tonight! Eventually I learned the bowling side or I should say I was in the process. So much to learn about working those lanes and running the screens and the computer system. With tears in my eyes I just want to say I will miss all of you who bowled with me and taught my husband and I to bowl in our older ages of 54-69! Thank you Jonathon Compton for endless hours of resetting lanes and pins and giving great bowling advice. Jackee Smith, I enjoyed being a part of your family for all these years. Watching your kids grow into great little adults. You taught me a lot about running a kitchen.....and I am using the skills at Hobo Junction. Hope we stay close friends cause you were my sister for all these years. ??. I love you all.
