By Angela Spatafore on May 06, 2026 from Off the Shelf

May is here, and the library continues to bring you fun, free events for the whole family.

As a reminder, our hours have changed!

Our hours on Monday-Thursday are still 11 a.m.-7 p.m., but we are now open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday.

We hope you will come and see us especially as we inch closer to summer and our highly anticipated summer reading program! In the meantime, here are just some highlights of what is coming this month.

A full list of events along with information on how to register can be found on our website: www.bplwv.org/events

For adults, our Tai Chi class continues to be well-attended.

Join us Thursday, May 7 and May 21 at 11:30 a.m. for a class taught by local instructor, Michelene Sheppard.

Do you also like or prefer yoga?

That Yoga Studio will be here for Morning Yoga on Monday, May 11 at 11:30 a.m.

We offer two drop-in sessions for Tech Help on Thursday, May 14 from 1 p.m.-2 p.m. and Genealogy on Wednesday, May 20 from 2 p.m.-3 p.m.

We are also hosting another free Community Swap for office supplies and stationery on Thursday, May 28 from 1 p.m.-2 p.m.

Teens can look forward to Snack Chat, which meets every Thursday from 4 p.m.-5 p.m..

Hang out with your friends, eat some snacks and talk about books you’re reading with library friends.

Older teens can join Craft Collective and learn the art of Japanese sashiko and visible mending today, Wednesday, May 6 from 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m.

You can also learn the art of origami during Teen Artventures on Tuesday, May 12 from 6 p.m.-7 p.m.

Want to learn how to play card games like Pokémon and Magic the Gathering?

Join us for Trading Card Adventures on Thursday, May 7 from 5 p.m.-6 p.m.

We also have tons of events for children.

Building Club, our Lego club, meets again on Saturday, May 9 from 12 p.m.-1:30 p.m.

Brain Power Hour is perfect after school.

School-age children and teens can stop by every Monday from 3 p.m.-4 p.m. to work on homework, play chess and unwind after class.

We are designing summer journals during Creation Station on Wednesday, May 13 from 3 p.m.-4 p.m. for ages 6-11.

Kidding Around Yoga returns Tuesday, May 19 from 6 p.m.-7 p.m.

Keep an eye out for our summer brochure, which will be out later this month.

Summer Reading 2026 is on the horizon. This year’s theme is Unearth a Story, so we will be celebrating things like dinosaurs, excavation, archaeology, and more!

Stay tuned for future issues of Off the Shelf, where we will take a closer look at summer reading.
