By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on June 30, 2025

During a recent meeting of the Harrison County Board of Education, members of the Bridgeport Middle School girls track and field team were honored for their recent conference championship.

They were brought before the elected members and acknowledged.

At the most recent campaign, several accomplishments took place.

Aria Selario, 8th grade, shattered three previous individual school records, including one that had stood for an impressive 16 years. She also set a meet record in the 1600m at the Mid-Mountain Conference.

- Selario’s 800m time was 2.28.23 beating the previous record, which stood at 2:29seconds.
- Selario’s 1600m time of 5:24 was 25 seconds faster than the previous record, which was set in 2017.
- Selario’s 3200m time of 12:01 was 36 seconds faster than the previous record, which was set 16 years ago in 2009.

Nicolina D’Annunzio, the Girls High Point Champion, in both the Mid Mountain 10 and Harry Green Invitational, led her team to victories securing both Championships and for the first time since 2014 for the HGI.

Her remarkable performance contributed 32 team points, with three first-place finishes in the 100m, 200m, and High Jump events. Notably, she achieved a personal best of 4’10” in the High Jump.

This season, the girls team also shattered several school records.

D’Annunzio’s 100m time of 12.97 seconds broke the previous record held by Kayla Haywood, who set it in 2011 with a time of 13.34 seconds.

D’Annunzio’s 200m time of 26.86 seconds also surpassed the previous record, which was held by Emma Knicely and set in 2024 with a time of 27.36 seconds.
