Bridgeport High School Swim Teams Announce the '25 Winners of Little Miss Mermaid and Mr. Shark

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on November 22, 2025

The Bridgeport High School swimming teams has announced the winners of this year’s Little Miss Mermaid and Mr. Shark Fundraiser, an annual tradition that continues to grow in excitement, community involvement, and team spirit.

After several weeks of creative fundraising efforts—ranging from basket raffles and sponsorships to gift card drawings and family-run initiatives—the competition concluded with outstanding participation from swimmers, families, and community members.

This year’s Little Miss Mermaid title was awarded to Cecilia D’Annunzio, supported by BHS Senior James Hadjis, who helped her rise to the top of the girls’ division. The title of Little Mr. Shark was earned by Mathew Baker, supported by BHS sophomore Aiden Blankenship. Both were recognized during the BHS Swim Team’s first home swim meet Nov. 15 at the Citynet Center at The Bridge.

The Bridgeport community once again showed remarkable generosity. Every donation—large or small—directly supports the swim team by helping offset costs for swimsuits, caps, warm-ups, meet gear, and other essential expenses for the season.

Organizers wanted to thank the combined efforts of swimmers, families, local businesses, and community supporters, this year’s fundraiser was another success. The team extends a thank you to everyone who contributed, participated, or helped spread the word.

Editor's Note: Both photos, along with the information, were submitted to Connect-Bridgeport.
