Indians Golf Team Looking to Bring Home Class AAA State Crown at Two-Day Match at Speidel Golf Club

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on October 11, 2025

Bridgeport High School has a long history of quality golf teams. Coach Chris Kerr is hoping this year’s squad can add to the list by bringing home a Class AAA state championship.

The Indians, by winning the Region II championship, will be among the eight teams looking to win the crown in the two-day tournament beginning Tuesday. They will compete at the state championship match to be held at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling on The Jones Course at Speidel Golf Club.

Club play begins on Tuesday, Oct. 14 and concludes on Wednesday, Oct. 15. There will be a practice round for the teams on Monday.

Bridgeport’s hopes lie with the foursome of No. 1 seed Alexandar Randolph, No. 2 Audrey Kerr, No. 3 Patrick Aucremanne, and No. 4. Guy Avolio. Randolph is a freshman, Kerr and Aucremanne are juniors, and Avolio is a senior. The top three scores each day are combined to determine the winning team.

Joining the Indians in Wheeling are Chapmanville Regional, Winfield, John Marshall, Fairmont Senior, Shady Spring, Princeton, and Hampshire. Shady Spring is the top-ranked team according to the WVSSAC standings, said Kerr.

“We are familiar with the course. We played in a Callaway event there in August,” Coach Chris Kerr said. “We did okay. We finished 11 out of 29 teams.”

Kerr said the field consisted of all West Virginia teams and one team from Ohio. He said there were from all four classification in the state.

“It’s golf so our goal is to go down there and win it all. If you’re not there to win it all then why are you there? At the same time, we know there are good teams in the field,” said Kerr. “If you don’t put up scores, then you’re going to finish in the bottom half.”

Kerr said that Shady Spring is considered the favorite, and the rankings back that up. He said the Indians are listed sixth in the same rankings among the eight teams that qualified.

“In golf, those rankings don’t mean anything because of the nature of the game. Also, Hampshire is ranked ahead of us, and we were able to have a good day and got them by 13 strokes in the regional,” said Kerr. “You can’t pay too much attention to the rankings. We’re going to go up and see what we can do. Everyone plays a different game every time out, but the hope is to consistently get better, and this is the week to be at your best.”

The team will leave for Wheeling Sunday. The club has a practice round early Monday morning. The Indians will then begin state play early Tuesday morning and wrap things up on Tuesday, late afternoon.

“We’re hoping for Alex and Audrey to keep putting up good scores and we know Patrick and Guy and come through for us. Patrick has played well the last quarter of the season with some solid scores,” Kerr said. “… Those two have more tournaments under their belt and a taste of postseason play so we know those two, along with Alex and Audrey, can put the scores up we need to get there.”
