Not a Bad (Knight) Night: Tribe Cross Country Teams Snare Top-10 Finishes

At one of the state's most unique events, Bridgeport took home a pair of top-10 finishes on Saturday.
Instead of a traditiona; 3.1-mile run by individuals, the Knight Night Relays have four runners do 1.5-mile splits and pass the baton to a teammate in the twilight at Preston High.
The Bridgeport girls' 'A' relay of Aria Selario (8:48.9), Isla Tobrey (9:30.4), Riley Cheatham (10:25.4) and Bethsayed Dankiewicz (9:49.3) combined for a time of 38:34, good for sixth place behind Morgantown A (35:35.7), Elkins (36:36.9), University (36:54), Morgantown B (37:28.9) and host Preston (38:06.3).
The Tribe's 'B' squad of Liana Rajjoub (10:41.2), Gemma Bonnell (11:03.9), Chloe Witt (10:58.2) and Zoe Kirksey (11:12.7) clocked in in 25th in a time of 43:56.
The 'C' team of Amber Vincent (11:33.1), Sophie Mazza (12:45.6), Gwen McCollam (11:14.5) and Abby Mills (11:47.6) ran 32nd in 47:20.8.
Evelynn Jarvis also ran in a time of 12:12.1.
Selario's split was eighth individually and Tobrey's was 27th.
The Bridgeport boys took 10th with their 'A' relay of Graham Northey (7:56.6), Ethan Mace (8:26), Jayden Straley-Smith (8:34.7) and Peyton Muncy (8:32.3) in a time of 33:29.5.
The 'B' squad of Brady Elliott (8:57.6), Andrew Wagner (8:48.4), Sam Mazza (9:27) and Cole Phillips (8:52) was 32nd in 36:05.
The 'C' unit of JT Ritter (10:03.6), Jeremy Lunsford (9:30.8), Silas Murphy (10:05.6) and Grady Deleurere (9:30.7) took 49th in 39:10.7.
Also running, but not in a full relay to get a team score, were Eden Dyer (9:41.7) and Nick Glaspell (10:05).
Northey's split was 31st in the field.
Both Bridgeport squads will run in the Robert's Running XC Festival on the state meet course at Cabell Midland on Saturday.
