University High Football Team to Host Event Involving BHS Athletes to Showcase Talent, Benefit Charity

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on July 07, 2025

The University High School (UHS) Football team is proud to announce the UHS MAX OUT showcase event, which will combine athletic excellence with a mission to combat food insecurity among veterans. This special event will feature a food drive to support the Mountaineer Foodbank Veterans Table Feeding Program and a public showcase of the team's hard-earned gains in the weight room and on the field throughout summer practices.

The event, scheduled for July 23, 2025, invites students, families, and community members to participate and donate, highlighting the power of sports in bringing people together for a greater cause. The Hawks will be joined by athletes from Bridgeport and Clay-Battelle high schools for the event.

"This is more than just a workout," said Eric Snyder, Head Coach of the University High School Hawks Football team. "We are excited to show the strength of our athletes and the strength of our community. We're proud to give back while pushing ourselves to be better."

Power and Performance on Display
During the MAX OUT event, the participating football players will demonstrate their physical development through max-effort lifts, including squats and deadlifts, with each athlete striving to achieve their personal bests, or "maxes." Fans will also witness their speed and agility as players record their best times in field drills such as the 40-yard dash and other key metrics.

The UHS MAX OUT showcase provides a unique window into the off-season work that fuels in-season success, offering a firsthand look at the determination, discipline, and progress these young athletes have achieved.

Giving Back with Every Rep
The UHS MAX OUT event is open to the public. Admission per person is $5 or the donation of non-perishable food donation to benefit the Veterans Table Feeding Program, which provides meals to local veterans facing food insecurity.

Collection bins will be available at the event, and all contributions will go directly toward stocking pantry shelves for those who served our country.

"Our players are leaders in this community, and they each understand the importance of service," Coach Snyder added. "For the second year of this event, we are excited to expand this event and give our football family an opportunity to support an important cause. They're lifting up others who need support."
