Tending Community: The Partnership Between BFM2 and Medbrook Children's Charity

By Perris Reed on May 26, 2026 from Tending Community

The partnership between the Bridgeport Farmers and Makers Market and the Medbrook Children’s Charity is already making a meaningful impact on local families this season. Thanks to a generous $5,000 contribution from the Children’s Charity, the market brought the Kid's Corner to life for the 2026 season, creating a free and welcoming space focused entirely on children, creativity, and community connection.

The mission of Medbrook Children’s Charity is simple but powerful: to promote lasting improvements in the lives of local underprivileged children. The organization believes that by investing in children today, it invests in the future of the entire community. Through local donations and community support, the charity works to provide meaningful opportunities and positive experiences for children throughout Harrison County.

That mission now has a visible presence every Sunday at BFM2!

Located under three bright tie-dyed tents, the Kid's Corner will undoubtedly become one of the most exciting additions to the Bridgeport Farmers and Makers Market this year. Every week, children can participate in free activities hosted by local organizations, artists, educators, and volunteers passionate about creating a fun and engaging experience for families.

Activities throughout the season are led by groups including the Bridgeport Public Library, Clarksburg Children's House Montessori School, local artists, and many other community partners. From hands-on crafts and educational activities to music, games, and creative projects, the Kid's Corner is designed to give children a place to explore, create, and simply enjoy being kids.

Dr. Kelly Nelson, founder of Medbrook Children’s Charity, shared his excitement about the partnership.

“The Children’s Charity is so pleased that the Bridgeport Farmers and Makers Market was able to think outside the box and come up with a way to involve the charity and children for the 2026 season,” Nelson said. “Although the season has just begun, we have already heard stories of the impact and look forward to a prolonged relationship with the market.”

Jaclyn Rominger, Vice President and Donations Chair of the charity, also emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for children and families within community events.

“Medbrook Children’s Charity is always looking for new projects to benefit children in Harrison County,” Rominger said. “I am really excited about this new partnership that will reach so many kids visiting the farmers market. We are really hoping families continue to get more involved with this community event knowing that there will be more activities for kids every Sunday.”

The Bridgeport Farmers and Makers Market is incredibly grateful for the support of Medbrook Children’s Charity and for every volunteer and organization helping bring the Kid's Corner to life. Their generosity is helping create lasting memories, stronger community connections, and a space where every child is welcome.

You will also see high school volunteers wearing bright construction vests with the BFM2 logo at every market this season, and we know they are excited to help with Kid's Corner activities and welcome families each Sunday.
