The Grapevine: Clarksburg Farmers Market Returns

By Rosalyn Queen on May 14, 2026 from The Grapevine

The Clarksburg Farmers Market opened on Saturday, May 9, to a great crowd and to approximately 20 vendors. The board and committee worked extremely hard to expand the vendors and to get a varied group that would attract and meet the needs of the public.

The vendors’ items included beautiful flowers and vegetables to plant. There were also hanging flower baskets that made great Mother’s Day gifts. There were several booths with deserts and home canned jellies. There was a vendor with baskets and even a knife sharpening booth. You could also find home crafted items. One booth offered scented soaps and other scented items for the home.

This week featured the Clarksburg Public Library Children’s department, who passed out books to the children. They also supplied fresh flowers for their children to plant in a cup as a special gift for their mothers. Approximately 80 flowers were prepared for their mothers by the children. Erica Perry, Clarksburg Public Library Children’s Librarian assisted the children on this project.

The committee plans to have different project such as this every week.

Music was supplied by a local band throughout the market. There was also a food truck for individuals to get lunch or just a snack.

The Clarksburg Farmers Market is in the Farmers Tractor Supply parking lot on Emily Drive. It will be open every Saturday morning throughout the summer from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. President is Betty Waddy and Bill Yoke serves as treasurer.

Get ready for a beautiful summer, stay healthy, and until next week, “Now You Have Heard It Through The Grapevine.”

Editor's Note: Erica Perry, Clarksburg Library Children’s Librarian, standing far right, and children and mothers are shown as the children prepare a flower in a cup for their mothers for Mother's Day.
