The Grapevine: Roz's Book Club Gives Looks at New James Patterson Book "Tiger, Tiger" on Tiger Woods

By Rosalyn Queen on November 06, 2025 from The Grapevine

As promised, here is a book review from “Roz’s Book Club.” This month I have chosen Tiger, Tiger by James Patterson.

I am sure that there are very few of us who have not followed Tiger Woods one way or another. This wonderful author, James Patterson, has done a magnificent job in collecting interesting details about the life of Tiger.

This biography of Tiger Woods goes into full detail that has never been in print before. The story covers all of Tiger’s championships, but very interestingly it also talks about his two children who have remained in the background for a long time and who we have never heard about.

The story about his son and daughter becoming involved in golf is interesting. The human aspect of this biography is wonderful as it covers a lot of details about his mother and father’s involvement in his career.

The details of his injuries are so interesting and contain parts and pieces of his recovery that many of Tiger Woods’ followers did not know. His fight to come back as a major golfer is detailed.

The book in large print is over 500 pages. You may feel you know everything about Tiger Woods, but James Patterson has authored a brilliant book and has given details that none of us would ever have known without reading the book. Patterson did not leave out the public scandals that could have ruined anyone else but showed the determination of Tiger to continue and to crawl back to the top.

I recommend this book highly for a long read on a cold weekend. It is a book that you can lay down and pick up without losing your train of thought. The book will be an inspiration to you. It is available at our local libraries.

On Nov. 11, we will be observing Veterans Day. It is to honor those who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Originally, it was known as Armistice Day to mark the end of World War I on November 11, 1918.

The purpose of this national holiday is to express our gratitude for the patriotism and sacrifices that our veterans made for us and our country. There are many events held locally to observe this holiday.

Many of us know this holiday as the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. Take the time to honor a veteran in our community and especially to say thank you for what they have done for us. You could plan to spend some time at the Louis A. Johnson Clarksburg Veterans Nursing Facility beside the Louis A. Johnson Veterans' Administration Medical Center in Clarksburg just listening to the story of a veteran who resides there. Some may want to talk about it and then there are some who do not want to. A visit to them would mean a lot I am sure.

I went to a surprise birthday party for Jimmy George. It was one of the most enjoyable events I have attended in a while. Why did I enjoy it so much? Because all my East View friends were there: the Morrison's, the Prieto’s, the George’s, the Kelley’s, and so many others. Jimmy and Sharon George were an important part of my family’s life as they lived next door to us for a long time. Wonderful memories and a Happy Birthday to Jimmy on turning 80, and many more in good health.

Start getting ready for Thanksgiving, it’s on its way. If you are thinking about gifts, order the cookbook, Arrivederci by calling me at 304-838-4682. They are $15.

The Progressive Women’s Association will be selling pita piatas. Be sure to reserve your order as they only make a limited number. These are unique as they have wine in the dough and are soaked in honey. Call 304-624-6881 to place your order.

Stay warm, get out those warm sweaters, make a nice pot of chicken pastina and until next week, “Now You Have Heard It Through The Grapevine.”
