Great story Jeff: My wife worked late nites or all nites as a telephone operator at C&P. They always had their late meal from the Canteen. Never had a complaint, always great food, The old Barber Shop in the basement of the Canteen, my son and I had many haircuts and when finished, we went upstairs and had a great meal, usually breakfast. The flood of (85) not only hit the Canteen, I worked at BHS, myself and others were at the school in the early morning hours, moving cafeteria tables up to the lockers, we took everything from the lower locker and put on the cafeteria tables. The school ended up with a few feet of water, lots of damage. A difficult time for all of Central W.Va. The Canteen was great and Ray Blake and the Giovanni leave us with so many fine memories.
