Massive Cranes Visit Bridgeport to Help Get Closer to Finish Line on Two Highly Popular Recreation Projects

By Jeff Toquinto on November 22, 2025

Two highly popular projects are at the finish line as Bridgeport Parks and Recreation staff helped put in place some of the finishing touches earlier this month.

Earlier this month, a national company with a regional facility in Parkersburg – CXT – delivered two pre-made restroom facilities to two locations in the city. The first stop, back on Nov. 7, was at The Bridge Sports and Recreation Complex, while the second delivery took place at Deegan Lake’s new pickleball facility.

The restroom facility at The Bridge is for the Medbrook Children’s Charity Inclusive Playground. It could be operational before the end of the year, said Bridgeport Interim City Manager and Parks and Recreation Director Joe Shuttleworth.

“That is the final phase, or at least the last major component, for the playground, and it is accessible for any patron who will use it once it is operational,” said Shuttleworth. “The weather has been a little cooperative, and we get the opportunity, we’ll have this one working and up for use for the end of the year.”

Shuttleworth said there are still some other minor issues needing addressed before he would call the playground project complete. He pointed to additional concrete work and fencing that needs to take place.

As for the pickleball restroom facility, Shuttleworth said it will become operational during the start of warm weather in 2026. He said it will be among the finishing touches on the highly used addition to the Parks and Recreation facility inventory.

“It’s a nice addition to an extremely popular facility. We’ve already expanded the parking with 20 spots and restriped everything,” he said. “There are still a few things left to do outside of the restroom, which is already set.

Shuttleworth said sidewalk work needs to be done there. He also said a picnic style pavilion will also be put in place to allow individuals to comfortably watch those playing pickleball and for those playing to have a place to relax.
