William Dunkin Lodge

William Dunkin Lodge
William Dunkin Lodge graduated with the BHS Class of 1945.  He received his bachelor's degree from WVU and was named a Distinguished Military Graduate.  He received a graduate degree from the University of Tulsa and an MBA from the Stern School of New York University.  He earned a post graduate electronics degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and completed Western Electric Senior Management Training.

Mr. Lodge served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Houston and in the U.S. Army Signal Corps.  He worked for Western Electric Company for 30 years.  He was also active in community activities.  He served as Chairman of the Harris County (TX) Committee for Employment of the Handicapped and as a volunteer driver for the Meals on Wheels program for 20 years.  He served on the management committee for the Miller Theatre in Houston and on the Board of Directors for the Dallas Grand Opera.

He and his brother, Dr. John H. Lodge, established a five-year program in honor of their late mother, Mary Hayes Lodge, a former Bridgeport High School teacher, to allow for a nationally or internationally known figure to come to BHS to encourage students to reach their goals.  The program ran from 1991-1995 and featured speakers such as NASA Astronaut Jon McBride and Senator Jeremiah Denton among others.

Mr. Lodge passed away in 2010.
