Mike Corder graduated with the BHS Class of 1964. While at BHS, Mike was the first Student Council president and played football and basketball. Upon graduation, he furthered his education at Marshall University where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration.
Mike joined the U.S. Navy after college. His tour of duty included 11 months of service on the USS Constellation off the coast of Vietnam. He worked for Consolidated Natural Gas for 34 years, mostly in the position of audio visual communications director and special events coordinator. He retired in September 2000.
He was very active in the community and a strong supporter of BHS. From 1984-1995, Mike produced many sports highlight videos for the school. He was an active member of the BHS Alumni and Friends Foundation for many years and founded the strawberry sale fundraiser and assisted with the brick wall fundraiser. Mike served 12 years on the Bridgeport Board of Coding appeals and Zoning Committee and was a major supporter of the United Way of Harrison County.
Mike passed away after a courageous battle with cancer in February 2012.
