What are you involved in on campus?: Senior Class President, Student Senate, Campus Ambassador, Honors Program, Writing Center Tutor, Appalachian Impact Mentor, Sigma Tau Delta English Honorary, and Pi Sigma Political Science Honorary.
Why did you choose to come to Wesleyan?: Wesleyan felt like home the first time I visited, and I decided then that I didn’t want to tour any other campus. I loved how all the people truly cared about me and my future. I also loved that Wesleyan provided me the flexibility to pursue multiple passions. The faculty and staff have worked with me since I started as a freshman undecided about a major and helped me form a course of study that encompasses many of my interests. Wesleyan also provides students opportunities to be involved in multiple areas. I knew that I would have opportunities to participate in areas such as the arts, student government, and community service in addition to being a student.
In what ways have you developed as a student and as a person during your time at WVWC?: WVWC has truly helped open my eyes to the world. I have been fortunate to travel to Europe through Spring Break study abroad trips with the Honors program, and I studied in Khon Kaen, Thailand during summer 2019 thanks to the generous study abroad support this college provides. My travel experiences have helped me learn more about myself and the world by shaping my career goals and providing me with a deeper appreciation for cultures that are different from mine. These experiences have been enhanced by the knowledge I have gained in the classroom, where classes have fostered an even deeper love for learning. Wesleyan has allowed me to become more confident in my leadership abilities, increased my love for West Virginia, and introduced me to some of my favorite people.
What will you do after graduation?: I am hoping to go to law school or pursue a master’s degree in public policy or public administration. My ultimate goal is to be an international human rights lawyer.
What faculty member, staff member/coach, or person has influenced you the most during your time at WVWC?: I don’t think I can pick just one person who has influenced me during my time at Wesleyan. I’ve been so lucky to interact with amazing professors and staff throughout my four years. I truly feel like Wesleyan is a big family, and I am grateful to have found a community that supports my dreams and thirst for knowledge.
