BHS Cross Country Teams Pick Up Two More Top 10 Finishes at Bearcat Invitational

The Bridgeport High School cross country teams had two runners place in the Top 10 at the Bearcat Invitational at West Taylor Middle School.
 
For the girls, Kaitlin Pappas was fifth overall with a time of 21:05 and for the boys, Troy Zorick was seventh overall with a time of 17:25
 
The BHS girls finished sixth overall, while the boys were seventh overall.
 
Buckhannon-Upshur won the girls team title and had the top two finishers with Lydia Falkenstein first with a time of 19:04.and Samantha Shreve the runner-up at 20:29.
 
Fairmont Senior won the boys team title and B-U again went 1-2 in the individuals with Jordan Gillum placing first with a time of 16:56 and Jack Waggy second at 17:08.
 
Madison Looker was the second girl to cross the finish line for the Indians with a time of 23:12 which was good for 26th overall.
 
Mikaela DeMoss was 42nd with a time of 24:30. Brea Holt was 51st overall with a time of 25:27. The last finish that counted toward the girls’ team points was Natalie Wagner coming in at 60th overall with a time of 26:23.
 
Also for the BHS girls, Victoria Vash was 65th at 26:44, Kylie Berry was 74th at 28:22, Renzy Pethel was 75th at 28:31 and Payton Janssen was 76th at 28:32.
 
A total of 97 runners competed in the girls race. The boys field saw 107 runners.
 
Following Zorick for the BHS boys was Quentin Collier with a 58th place time of 20:41, Ethan Smell with a 60th place time of 21:10, Jackson Holtz with a 73rd place time of 21:47 and rounding out the finishes that went toward the team points was Colton Reed with a 77th place time of 22:14.
 
Also for the BHS boys, Ian Scroggs was 88th at 22:47 and Andrew Matlock was 89th at 22:48.
 
The BHS cross country teams will be in action on Saturday at the Ritchie County Invitational, which is scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
