Bridgeport High School’s football program was the recent recipient of a generous donation from Kroger at the final regular season home game against Lincoln Nov. 8.
During that contest, an official with Kroger presented BHS Assistant Principal and Athletic Director Tom Sears and Coach Tyler Phares with a $2,000 donation. The donation came on Kroger Fan Night at Wayne Jamison Field.
According to Sears, Kroger set up a Fan Night setup at Jamison Field. There were PS5’s for fans of both Bridgeport and Lincoln to use, as well as football toss and other activities. On Thursday of that week, members of the Bridgeport football team visited the local Kroger to take part in the same activities the night before the Lincoln contest.
“Kroger reached and said they wanted to support us,” said Sears. “It was a very generous offering.”
Sears added that the funds donated go directly to the football program.
