By Chris Johnson on October 09, 2024
Bridgeport High School Theatre is gearing up for its fall production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, The Broadway Musical.
Performances will be Oct. 25-27 at the Bridgeport High School Auditorium.
The first show will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25. The next day, Saturday, Oct. 26, will feature two shows, one at 2 p.m. and one at 7 p.m. The final show will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27.
Beauty and the Beast is based on the book by Linda Woolverton and originally directed by Rob Roth and originally produced by Disney Theatrical Productions.
Music is Alan Menken and lyrics are by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice.
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is the classic story of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed into his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.
This "tale as old as time" is filled with spectacular costume and set opportunities or, even more simply staged, Disney's Beauty and the Beast offers a great opportunity to bring your entire community together for family theatre at its best.
