Bridgeport Middle Softball Falls to Suncrest, 6-5

On Friday evening, Suncrest Middle School traveled south from Morgantown to take on the Bridgeport Middle Lady Braves at the Bridgeport Softball Field. These two teams were scheduled to play each other last year in Morgantown, but the game was canceled due to inclement weather.
In the bottom of the first, Molly Frenzel doubled to left to start the inning.
Amelia Green reached base on a bunt single with Frenzel moving to third on the play. Green then stole second.
A wild pitch allowed Fenzel to score and Green took third.
A passed ball saw Green cross the plate.

Audrey Corder doubled and one out later Brooklyn Swiger reached first on a dropped third strike.
Sophia Humble singled to load the bases. Corder scored on a wild pitch to give BMS a 3-0 lead at the end of the first.
Suncrest scored single runs in the third and fourth innings to cut the BMS lead to 3-2.
They tied the game at three in the top of the sixth.
BMS started their half of the sixth with a leadoff single by Humble.
She moved to second on a passed ball and went to third on a dropped third strike with Olivia Fittro at bat.
Fittro then stole second. Humble scored on a wild pitch and Fittro went to third. With two outs, Frenzel singled to bring Fittro home.
The Lady Braves now held a 5-3 lead.
The top of the seventh saw Suncrest score three runs to claim a 6-5 advantage.
The Lady Braves were held scoreless in the bottom of the seventh.
The game had a special meaning for the head coaches of both teams.
Abby (Hartley) Hall, the Suncrest head coach, played for Coach Estok in the Bridgeport Girls Softball Association league and at BMS.
