Bridgeport among Emergency Crews at Structure Fire

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on October 01, 2024

Bridgeport was among the first responders showing up to a Sunday morning fire in Gypsy in Harrison County on Sunday, Sept. 29.

According to a Facebook post from the Nutter Fort Volunteer Fire Department, the structure fire call to the Harrison County 911 came in at 6:51 a.m.

Crews arrived less than three minutes after the call came in. The first unit on the scene arrived to a working fire in single-story residential unit.

According to the post, crews began an interior attack after tying into a nearby hydrant. The fire was put out, but photos from the Facebook show extensive damage.

One person was transported as “ALS,” which is advanced life support. They were taken to United Hospital Center and no information on the status of the individual was listed. No other injuries were reported.

Joining Bridgeport was the Lumberport, Shinston, Spelter, Worthington, and Monongah Volunteer Fire Departments. The Harrison County Emergency Squad and the West Virginia Fire Marshals Office was also alerted and on the scene.

The fire is under investigation.
